A lot of things have happened recently, so I better write about them before more fun things this coming weekend with the Junior GB Lead climbing team!

On the 11th January I had a National Academy training day with Tom Greenall, Lucinda Whittaker, Katy Whittaker and Nathan Philips, at the Climbing Works in Sheffield on competition bouldering techniques and competition prep.

The following week I had the Regional Academy which is a smaller one (just for Peak) but I had the same people as they live around the area. Were we had a small competition to perfect route reading skills etc. We also had a One to One with Tom and Lucinda on how individually we are doing and can improve. This was at Awesome Walls Sheffield.

I took part in the BMC YCS first peak round at Awesome Walls Sheffield on the 25th January, I completed all of my routes first go and had to have a climb off with my best friend Pippa Watkin. I managed to fall off on the last move of the super final route then Pippa came out and fell off at the same place, we drew as they wouldn’t give us a super super final.

On 1st and 2nd February I was at the joint GB Junior inaugural meet at Kenwood Hall in Sheffield, the Lead team trained at the Foundry and at Cross Fit Sheffield. I had a great time there with my team mates and Coach Ian Dunn. At Cross Fit we had a full on circuit training session with pull ups, sit ups, push ups and other core and cardiovascular exercises. We also had our medicals.

I had the 2nd round of the BMC YCS at Alter Rock in Derby on 1st March. I topped all of my routes first go and so did Martha Lubczynskyj, but Pippa did one boulder on her second go so didn’t go into the super final with us. I got one point further than Martha, so I won (nearly topping the Youth A hardest route)! After the comp I went back and topped it 3nd go.
